Amazing words. So glad many republicans bonded together away from trumpism. We welcome you all to safe shores. We all love America and are happy we joined forces for democracy.
Itβs very encouraging to read your words and to know that young people see a better way forward, despite what Republicans are doing. Us old folks know thereβs a better way, weβve experienced it. Thank you! π
I so appreciate that all you have seen in politics is the last 20 years. I often need to remind myself that when a person grew up affects their political inclinations. I am a bit olderπ. I came of age under George HW Bush who was defined by his civility and decency. He also raised taxes for the good of the countryβs fiscal health even though he knew it would hurt him politically, as it did.
I voted for Biden knowing him to be a decent, experienced, moderate politician. He WAS pulled to the left, making explicit promises to Sanders and Warren in 2020. To earn my vote, VP Harris needs to make similar promises to those of us concerned about fiscal health, bringing down cost of healthcare/housing/childcare with market approaches over government subsidization (which drives costs up)βperhaps appointing Avik Roy to her econ councilβand a willingness to encourage her friends in the Senate to maintain the filibuster and pursue cross partisan negotiation and legislation. I never have and never will vote for Trump. But I will write in fellow Texan Admiral McRaven if Harris does not try to earn the vote of fiscal and constitutional conservatives.

Thereβs lots of old Republicans that feel the same way.

Thank you, Adam. πΊπΈ
I am grateful for your daily posts. I share them in the comments section of the local paper as an antidote to the MAGA victimhood.
