Usha Vance, NSA Waltz Going to Greenland
Trump says the US will get Greenland “one way or the other.” It should piss off the voters who are struggling.
Donald Trump’s renewed obsession with Greenland is no longer just bizarre—it’s bordering on dangerous, and it’s an insult to Americans struggling to afford groceries, pay rent, and keep their families afloat.
This week, U.S. officials including National Security Adviser Michael Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright are visiting Greenland, accompanied by Second Lady Usha Vance.
Ostensibly a cultural and strategic mission, the trip takes place against the backdrop of Trump’s increasingly aggressive rhetoric about acquiring the island “one way or the other.” Danish and Greenlandic leaders have made it clear that they neither invited nor endorse this visit.
The move follows a pattern: what Trump once floated as outlandish fantasy—buying Greenland, annexing Canada, “reclaiming” the Panama Canal—he now advances through official channels.
While Trump sends emissaries to scout foreign land he has no right to claim, American voters should ask loudly: What does this do to help me?
The answer is nothing. It won’t lower costs. It won’t create jobs. It won’t fix schools, healthcare, or infrastructure. Trump has imperial delusions. He’s an unserious man playing at empire while real people suffer.
Today the New York Times reports U.S. officials are headed to Greenland, including Second Lady Usha Vance, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated the visit was unsolicited: “It must—and shall—be a cooperation based on sovereignty and mutual respect.”
Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark, and neither government supports U.S. acquisition.
Trump said the U.S. would acquire Greenland “one way or the other” and floated tariffs on Denmark to force cooperation.
The delegation will visit U.S. troops and energy sites, signaling Arctic military and strategic interest.
Trump Jr. previously led a “fact-finding” trip to Greenland with MAGA loyalists (including Charlie Kirk), reportedly staging photo ops.
This is yet another episode of Trump-generated chaos that does absolutely nothing for the American people. It won’t make groceries more affordable, it won’t lower gas prices, it won’t improve schools, or bring jobs back to struggling towns.
Trump isn’t doing this for you.
It reveals once again why he is unfit to govern. Voters want stability, solutions, and seriousness—not distractions, not cosplay diplomacy, not dangerous provocations with our allies.
The people of Greenland aren’t asking for this. The people of America aren’t asking for this.
It’s time we stopped pretending this behavior is anything but reckless—and demanded better.
Let’s Do Something
On Wednesday, March 26, Sojourners and partners from the Washington Interfaith Staff Community (WISC) are hosting weekly multi-faith vigils at the Capitol from noon to 12:45 p.m. These “Faithful Witness” events are calling on Congress to step up—to reclaim its moral courage and fulfill its constitutional responsibility to check executive overreach.
Our country is staring down the possibility of a constitutional crisis, and the silence from many in power is deafening. These vigils will be both prophetic and pastoral, lifting up prayers and public witness to say: we cannot look away. We cannot let fear or apathy win.
Dr. King said it best: this is the fierce urgency of now. If you feel stirred to take action—to show up with your body, your voice, or your prayers—I’d love to talk with you more.
Greenland is an autonomous nation. Seems to me they should publicly announce to the world and to the publicity seeking Trump cabal, “you are not invited. Your planes may not land on our soil. You will not be met by any representatives of our government. Stay away or we will interpret your acts as aggressive, bordering on acts of war”.
Our taxes are paying for this trip? Doge / here’s the waste you ate looking for.
